In Denmark, asylum-seekers spend up to a decade in the wilderness while their cases are heard.
Asylum-seekers here have no national registration or social security number. They are only allowed emergency medical help if the asylum camp doctors give the OK. Dental help, pills and so on must often be paid out of their subsistence allowance from the government, which may be as little as $120 every two weeks per person.
This situation can on for weeks, months - or even up to 10 years - before their applications to stay in Denmark and any appeals are finalised.
These were among the complaints that members of the European Parliament studied during a recent inspection of two asylum camps and a prison where deportees are held before deporttaion. The report is due in October, but initial comments castigate the Danish government for its policies and the long, drawn-out procedures.
Asylum seekers are persona non grata even before they arrive...

According to a World Bank report issued in 1999, the economic cost of pollution in Egypt is a whopping 4.8 percent of gdp. While residents of Cairo have learned to cope with typical pollution levels (no mean feat in one of the top-10 most polluted cities in the world), they’ve also had to contend with a cloud of smog descending on the city at nightfall every autumn since 1999.
Ahead of the annual appearance of the notorious “black cloud,” the ministry of environment, under the recently appointed maged George, is taking action to curb the phenomenon, in cooperation with several other ministries, including agriculture, electricity, local administration, water resources, interior and transport.
Cairo, a city of 17 million, is subject to several different kinds of effluence, all of which, in varying degrees, contribute to the cloud.

At the beginning of the 21st century, European governments are called to face two major demographic challenges up: shrinking and aging. If UNPD's forecast come true, by the year 2050, Europe will shrink by 75mn, or roughly 10.3%, from 728mn to 653mn. Back in 1950, 21.7% (547mn) of the world's population lived in the Old Continent, today this proportion is merely 11.3%, and in 2050 will fall dramatically to 7.2%. The period 2005-2050, twenty-five countries is expected to have a population decline. Twenty-four of them lie in Europe –the other one is Japan. The next 45 years about half of Europe's nations will shrink. Specially, Italy and the former communist states in Eastern Europe, will experience the heaviest population losses. On the other hand, Europe's periphery: Africa and Asia, and specially, the Middle East; are –and will be– the fastest growing regions in the world, in demographic terms. In 2050, 21.3% (1,937mn) of the world's population –almost three ...

When Kamilia went on stage to face a large crowd of religious leaders, she felt cold, scared, scarred and unable to speak. She has been blamed by family, abandoned by friends, ostracized by society and moments before her public appearance, even condemned to death.

“You say my condition is a punishment from God,” she told the emotionless faces sitting across from her. Kamilia got infected by her husband and was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2002. "...But what about her?”
Her voice broke as she held the picture of an eight-year-old girl with brown hair and a big smile. "This is my daughter, please tell me if you truly believe that God is punishing her too.”

Last December, more than 80 religious leaders from 18 Arab countries gathered in Egypt for the first time in recent history to collectively take a stand to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS, a disease that has traditionally been met with fear, denial and ignorance.
The change in the attitude is obvious since 9/11 the shift has been dramatic and disturbing. Not all of us are relating to human sufferings on the other side o the world in the same way as we used to earlier, the hostile conditions and the casualties in a number of countries are taken for granted.
The possibility of another tragedy happening in our backyard sends a shiver down the spine but thinking global and having a global perspective is still not on the agenda of many developed countries.................
To some extent it is true, that is why the movies are rated, but apart from that everyone including children has the right to know what is happening around the world, much of the world we live in is filled with violence. We just have to make sure they take the right road and are not mislead by the robbing of the banks sequence, they should be inspired by the good guys chasing the bad guys, and definately not the other way around. Self defense and thoughtful thinking must be taught to them. No where in the world is completely safe, some sort of violence is always promoted.Making the children believe that the world and real life is like a fairy tale is absolute injustice and something that doesn't make sense, instead we should allow them to know how to protect themselves in this world.

Parents should get a grip on that, when their children reach the teenage years they tend to discover a lot of new things, try out new things and there are friends influencing, they would want to date, have boyfriends and so on. Instead of parents pretending that their kids are saints and pointing others, they should just deal with the fact that their children are dating and are in the process of growing up. If parents could guide their children and educate them about dating, sex, drugs and so on, it would be more effective, instead of not wanting to talk about any of it. Its a part of daily life, parents should deal with it cleverly because little hint of possesiveness could bring out the reblious side of their children in their teenage years.

The war on Iraq was supported by the claim that WMD is available and will be used against the USA. But the world knows when the USA invaded Iraq, no such claim stood on firm grounds as substanstial evidence were not found.

So why go to war at the first place? To keep the USA safer. Iraqi's were not related to the 9/11 or any terrorist attacks. President Bush to this day cannot provide any clear answers to the question.

Beheading and killings are happening on daily basis in Iraq. It's clear that when injustice is done in Iraq like the killing of innocent civilians and the Abu Ghuraib scandal, they'll be more keen on taking revenge, which resulted in the attraction of terrorists from all around the world.
So now as Iraq is prone to terrorist activities, the next question is : who started all of it and who is responsible.

President Bush is very optimistic about winning the election, but what about all the protestors who said that Bush has mislead the nation and drained the economy. There's high rate of umemployment, higher tax rates, higher medical costs with less efficient medical services. Declaring war on Iraq was no way related to the 9/11 because it was not the Iraqi people involved, it was the Saudi's.
Here's a very critical topic where all parents will go balastic! Sure, parents are one of the most important blessing in our life, but it is fair, that they would be dominating our thoughts and intrude in our lives? A lot of youngsters tend to dislike their parents only because of their dominating nature. I believe everyone is a separate individual, don't treat them like they are your property, give them the liberty they seek but of course tell them what's right and wrong, but let them pick, they should be analytical. If they go wrong, parents are always there to help them out. But parents should not enforce their choices of career, clothing, food tastes or whatsoever on their children. It would be total injustice. I'm sure nobody likes to be "controlled". Be open and friendly with children, they need to be taught and there's no better place than home.
