Your subscription

Subscribers at Pressurge.org will receive automagically details about articles of their choice. These details are sent [quite conveniently!] by e-mail and concern both article and author.
Who wishes to subscribe himself [or someone else, for that matter], should add some basic information to the database. That information consists of input about yourself and, if appropriate, the company you work for. At the bottom of this page there's more about the registration procedure.

Personal- and company settings

On the page you just arrived from the following fields are presented:
  • First name
This is a required field that should contain your forename if you're subscribing yourself, or the forename of your contact at the company you're subscribing.
  • Last name
    Surname; same rule applies.
  • Company
Not required. If the subscriber is employed by a publishing business, he (or she) may fill out the firmname here.
  • Publication
If the subscriber is employed by a magazine, journal, website or some other form of publication, the name can be stated here.
  • URL
The internetaddress that is associated with the publishing firm or -even better- with the publication the subscriber works for.
  • E-mail
    The e-mailaddress of the subscriber.
Subscription-settings

At the subscription-settings you may select one or more of the following settings:
You may select up to six authors. You will only receive articles that are written by the here selected authors. If you do NOT select any authors here, (all six selectboxes showing "------?------"), you will receive articles from ANY author. If you select Joe and Mary, you will only receive articles added by Joe and Mary.

About the same rules apply to categories. You may select up to three of them. If no category is specified, you'll receive articles from ANY category. If you're exclusively interested in background stories and interviews, just select the corresponding settings. "(News-) story" is a bit of a scrap-category taking any article not fitting into the other categories.

You can choose up to three different languages. If you leave the language settings as are ["------?------"] we reckon the language of the articles you'd like to receive is irrelevant.

Next is a field to select words or wordparts in articles and keywords that are associated with the article. Words and wordparts should be seperated by a space [Yes, that IS the large button at the bottom of your keyboard!]
If you're exclusively interested in articles about archeology, you may add excavation archeolog here. Doing so, you will not only receive information about articles in English containing the word excavation, archeological, archeology or archeologist, but also any French, Dutch and German articles containing the word "archeologie". Mixing language- and keyword-settings allows you to get exactly the information you need.
If no words are added you will receive articles without content screening.

If all select boxes are left at "------?------" and no words or wordparts are selected, you will receive any article that is added to the database.
If you would stick to the examples mentioned above, you will receive background articles OR interviews from Joe AND Mary AND having the (key-)word "excavation" OR the wordpart "archeolog".

MIND YOU!

With just Joe and MAry selected, only Joe and Mary will be able to see your settings. Any other author won't even find out you're a subscriber...
So, if you are typically interested in articles that deal with topics of the day, there is some logic in not selecting any authors. In that case any author can see what you're asking for and adjust her or his efforts accordingly.

Registrationprocedure

Because anyone visiting the site can subscribe anyone else, all subscriptions must be confirmed. Upon entering your settings, an e-mail with an initial pasword will be sent to the new subscriber. Only when he or she has confirmed the settings, the subscription is activated.

If no confirmation has been made within three weeks, the subscription will be removed. In the meantime the subscriber will not receive any articles from Pressurge.
Awaiting confirmation or removal it's not possible to subscribe the same subscriber again.
