FAQ
What's all this about?
Pressurge is about distribution of content: buying and selling new or 'second-hand' articles for (re-)use on websites or in more traditional media.
You've probably heard all the clichés about Internet enabling buyers and sellers to negotiate terms of delivery without interference from any third party. Pressurge is a genuine example of that point of view, since we - unlike many other sites - don't interfere by charging you for selling, buying, searching or subscribing.
Basically, Pressurge allows freelance authors show themselves and (summaries of) their writings in a virtual shop-window. Anyone interested can find them, their whereabouts and their articles at the site or - if subscribed - in the inbox of their e-mailclient. Interested parties may contact authors directly to negotiate terms of delivery or assignments.
By doing so we enable freelance authors (like ourselves) to expand our markets and increase revenue from the texts we write.
How can I join?
Click 'REGISTER' at any page and fill out the appropriate form.
Aha! And than what?
Our server Urgie will send you an e-mail containing an initial password that enables you to add or change information about yourself, your trade and your writings.
How about subscriptions?
Once you've filled out the appropriate registration-form our dedicated server will send you an initial password. All subscribers need to confirm their settings on login in order to activate their 'account'.
When subscriptions remain unconfirmed for three weeks, they will be removed from the database. In the mean time no mail is sent to the matching e-mailaddress.
What's an RSS feed?
An RSS-feed is a file that incorporates an XML-definition that was originally developed by Netscape when they still had the illusion Netscape would become a newsportal.
RSS was supposed to be used for exchange of newsitems between sites and platforms. When the newsportal didn't make it, Netscape quit development.
With the rise of weblogging the format is suddenly widely used to feed weblogs with content from other weblogs.
Pressurge uses the RSS-format to make the database easy accessible for other websites and newsaggregators.
More information on RSS and it's advantages is
here
.
A nice newsaggregator can be found
here for download
.
The feed-URL for english articles only is at http://pressurge.org/gb/RSSfeed.html
The general RSS-feed is at http://pressurge.org/pressurge/RSSfeed.html
So no more need for subscriptions?
Not really! If you're interested in the articles added at Pressurge you could use a newsaggregator and just add the Pressurge '2Bhad'- channel.
Some aggregators allow the user to filter input. But it remains to be seen if they will ever get as clever as our subscribersfilters at the site that send you relevant content by email...
Somehow the initial e-mail with my login-data got lost!
Stop using Outlook Express.
How do I get out?
In order to remove your database entry you should have changed the initial password as described in the initial Pressurge-e-mail (Remember? The one we told you not to trash!) After you've done that you can edit your settings or remove them.
How did I get out?
If you don't login within two months upon subscription, your entries will be removed from the database.
We run a two-weekly check on all e-mailadresses. If your adress is no longer active, all your entries will be removed from the database.
People who joined Pressurge in order to have their message at the Jobmall distributed among our subscribers and don't add articles will be removed together with their message.
That could be the case within 7 x 24 hours, depending on your settings.
My message was removed but I didn't set a time limit!
If you did not make a selection at the "
remove message
"-field at the Jobmall, your message will be removed after one week.
What about my copyrights?
They must be (and remain) entirely yours. We don't interfere with any of your contributions to the database, as long as you are the owner of the copyrights of the articles you add.
Most countries acknowledge by law that articles written by freelance writers, journalists (or housewives for that matter) cannot be sold. That is, these creative minds sell
the right for publication
, not the article or it's contents.
If you never signed anything stating that the copyrights belong to your publisher, you're save to add (summaries of) your articles here.
It's Pressurge's only aim to spread content freely over the web. The information about you and your writings will exclusively be used for that purpose.
So how do you make money?
In fact we don't and we don't intend to. The former is a feature we have in common with most companies in the 'new-new economy'; the difference is we're not operating at a loss.
Where's the fancy logo to put on my homepage?
